Hey all,
This is my annual Pod_Together Podfic Penceive Project post! You are all invited! This is a project that is pretty specific and also really experimental. We've done it for several years running and every time I have been stunned at the amount of awesome that we've come up with!! The focus is on memory and creation (I've included the basic instructions below). I've run this before and the collection of finished works is up on AO3 if you want to check out the kind of finished products this makes. Let me know if you are interested!

Please sit back and relax. This is one of a number of transmissions you will receive. You may read this as fast or as slow as you wish but please read it only once. Please do not take notes or talk about it on social media or record it while you read. This piece is about your memory as much as it is about my writing. However, it is not a memory test. Don't memorize it word for word (unless you want to). What you choose to focus on and what you pass over and what your brain makes up to fill the gaps is as much a part of the story as the text itself. After reading you can choose when to record it. It can be immediately after, or you could wait several days, or you could wait until after the final transmission, or some combination, or something I have not thought of.

The transmission you are about to read is one of a number and may not be in chronological order (with the others or within itself). It may shift tense and point of view. The piece will build and reveal itself as the transmissions go on. Feel free to edit the final product as much (sound effects or music or whatever else you can imagine) or as little (raw recordings) as you want. Now please, sit back and enjoy:

I want this to be a low stress project; you can put as much or as little effort into this as you want. "Transmissions" will go out once a week (there will be 4-5) as soon as I finish writing the whole thing. You can do major editing or you can leave the audio completely raw.

This runs as part of the Pod_Together podfic challenge but I take care of that side of things. (Unless you want to check in, you don't have to.) Pencieve podfic is also meant to be as low pressure as possible. As long as I have one (1) person finish, the project is a go - which means that if you want to sign up and check it out but find it too much, you can drop out without worrying. Or you could keep reading each transmission as it comes out but not think about it much until after all your other projects are done...for extra chaos.

Participants PLEASE get me your emails. I need them for the sign up. We have a discord server for planning and general communication during the project so I'd love your contact info for there too.

For the fic: Join Me In Paradise [Fandom - Hitman; Relationship - Diana/47; Rating - Explicit]

I made a cover mimicking the box art for the game series and a series of scene break image manips made from screen caps of the game.

I sometimes get comments asking about my podfic skins on AO3, and recently was approached again. All my skins were originally created by [personal profile] eosrose and are shared with their permission. That said, I've edited a bunch of them for colours and images and stuff.

As some people have probably seen, AO3 posted their minutes from the last board meeting.  I won't quote here what they said because other, much more well spoken and BIPOC people have already said what needs to be said and I would rather uplift their voices than blunder my way through.  Racism has been an ongoing problem in fandom for years, decades.  AO3 is not only not helping to alleviate BIPOC fans' troubles, they are actively making them worse.

I've been struggling to figure out what I, a white fan, can do to help (other than support my BIPOC friends, uplift BIPOC voices, criticize my fellow white fans, and generally make sure that I'm working on decolonizing my own world view.  After this particular news broke onto my feed last night I struggled and was ready to pull all of my works from AO3.  To no longer support an organization that further harms other people.  I've decided to hold off on that for now.

This morning I wrote a letter to AO3.  Thanks so much to a friend of mine for letting me see his letter and use it as a guide.  My letter is as follows:

I'm incredibly disappointed in AO3's continuing treatment of BIPOC fans, writers, and creators. "Outside groups." "Unfavorable changes for creators." "Censorship guidelines." "Remain committed to inclusivity of content." and other such statements treating BIPOC fans as "outsiders" or as antagonistic show, at the most generous, an ignorance of fannish history and historical and current world events, and more likely show an unwillingness to engage with any issues in these vectors that borders on blatant white supremacy. I understand there is a balance to enact as a fan run archive but allowing ad enabling, both at a user level and at a structural level, harassment and abuse via the tagging and commenting system as well as questions and answers such as the one in this board meeting is protecting no one but the harassers and making fandom less for everyone and more for a privileged few. I expected better. All of us expected better.

Now is the time for real, actionable change. Something needs to give and I only hope that it is AO3 growing into a better, more inclusive organization.

If I do reach the point where I no longer feel comfortable hosting any of my works on AO3, please know that you will always be able to find them here.  I don't want to take them down so much as move them to a space where they won't be contributing to an organization that causes harm to others.

You are the best!! )

Thank you again!!! You are awesome!!! (as are you Mods as well!)

EDIT: 2 bonus fandoms that I got into post-ITPE sign ups.  Please feel no pressure, I just wanted you to know.
1) Venom: Eddie/Venom(/Anne/Dan) (I am here for the Xeno! I love aliens discovering human culture and humans having to explain everything from toasters to complex morality questions. also the porn. I LOVE the poly version.  Especially if it is Venom that wants to pursue Anne instead of Eddie (and she is cool with that))
2) Shadowhunters: If you can find fic that is poly shipping and actually well written, you are amazing. If you can find a fic where Alec and Lydia are happy married in a very "marriage of convenience/social/political contract that makes both our lives better" way and awesome friends while Magnus and Alec are a couple? That would blow my mind. (note to focus on the HAPPY part in that). Other ships I ship are: Alec/Magnus/Jace (SOULBOND accidental voyeurism shenanigans), Clary/Simon/Jace, Simon/Raphael, Izzy/Aromantic Sex
shenanigans

ps. I know I have a reputation for intensly LONG podfic.  I do really really love listening to short podfic too! So please do not feel like making something long is necessary!!!
