Europe Trip Days 0-2
Aug. 27th, 2008 06:35 amHi from London!
so the plane ride was good if slightly dissapointing (normally my favorite part but this time I tried to sleep through most of the one to London so as to try to have SOME energy when I got there). Note that it is REALLY difficult to sleep on planes. We ate at TGI Fridays in our leyover in the states and had mediocre food and the STRONGEST margarita I've ever had (yes there are pictures of my face). When we got to London it was 10:30ish in the morning so we found the hostel, checked in and waited for our room to be ready (around 12:00). After that we walked around London, we saw many, many things (and walked a lot!): Big Ben (from the bottom), the London Eye, the Westminster Bridge, and St. Paul's Cathedral (our hostel is right near this). After, we went shopping and I bought a very cute shirt (I think I need more pants, you were correct mom - Coolish and overcast every day so far). Shoes are a size and a half smaller here and thus I am a size 3 roughly. We crashed at about 7:30 after some mediore sushi and finding our way back.
Yesterday morning (afternoon really) I woke up at noon (ACK). We began to leave (Rebekah having been up for quite a while) and headed for a small panini shop (I think that's what it was) and had lunch. Apparently sometimes here they charge less for take out - so we sat in the St. Paul's courtyard to eat (there were lots of other people doing this). We then headed over to the National Museum and wandered around there for hours. I saw the Rosetta Stone!! (and bought soveniers) We then had a mediocre lunch/supper (not doing well with food) at a Greek restaurant (the Tzitziki was AWESOME though!) Then we headed over to the London Eye and took an AWESOME ride and saw LOndon from the TOP!!!! Very very cool!!! We then slowly made our way back to our hostel and found an arcade and so went in and played bumper cars and bowling (fun!). We crashed at about 11-12:30 last night and are now up (7:00) to start the day. The Cathedral rings it's bell every 15 min. very... something cool, not as annoyning as I'd thought.
Going to eat breakfast now (I think it is out),
