Dear Yuletide Writer:
Firstly, thank you for offering to take this on! I am super excited to have you with me in this endever and I cannot wait to see what you come up with. Now a little bit about me to, hopefully, help you out. I'm going to ramble here for a bit as that more information is probably better than none.
I suppose I should start with the fact that I'm a slash reader. Do not worry if that is not your thing, most of the fandoms I've requested are ones I want world building or gen fic for. I'm also willing to be sold on a het fic if that is your passion (femslash too).
The one type of story that I will read almost no matter what is Crossover fic. Feel free to crossover any of the fandoms I requested with another fandom of your choice. However, I just ask that the focus is still on the fandom I requested and that you provide a link to some sort of primer to the other fandom so I can read up on it! (For example, if you wanted to fuse the members of your favourite band into the This Alien Shore universe and explore how they went about their lives that would be more than ok!)
Other general things to note about my reading habits are that I do not really enjoy fiction that is depressing (that's an awkward way of phrasing it but true) - this can be anything where a main character dies to a story that has an overarching feeling of hopelessness - I read fic to feel good. Feel free to explore themes and issues if you want, but please keep the tone of the story mostly upbeat (not that bad things can't happen but...)
One last thing to note I think before I talk about my fandoms specifically: my Pinboard account is HERE (it is like delicious) and on it are fic that I read and like. I have a bunch at the top that are completely untagged for which I apologize but the rest should be tagged. You can see what I normally read and what I enjoy most. (Two tags of specific not are Extra:Favorite - those are my favourites - and Quality:Whale - these are the best written and also very enjoyable fics on there.)
This Alien Shore - C. S. Friedman
I have been wanting more in this universe since I first read this book... a very long time ago. I'd love anything in this universe. Anything! I latched onto Phoenix in the book and thought he was super cool. He's the not-quite-normal guy that is pulled into this crazy situation. I'd love some sort of timestamp with him, before or after the book. But really, for this fandom I just want worldbuilding. I want to know what people's daily lives are like, I want to know how their world works, I just want to know everything. Basically I want more of this universe.
I said earlier that crossovers/fusions are more than ok and this is one fandom that I think would be completely open to that. How would My Chemical Romance work in this universe? What races would the Avatar Gaang be? How would they meet? Would Link be a good enough hacker to find the information to rescue Princess Zelda? There are so many possibilities. If you are not into crossovers/fusions but like writing Original Characters I am completely ok with that as well.
Emelan Universe | Circle Universe - Tamora Pierce
Being a slasher at heart, my deepest desire for this universe is for fic that explores what it means to be LGBT there. I admit, my perfect fic for this universe would involve Briar coming to terms with liking both boys and girls (or just boys). I am aware that this is not canon but I'd LOVE it. Alternately, I'd love fic about Daja and her reception pretty much anywhere, some places would be accepting (Winding Circle seems accepting of Lark and Rosethorn) but other places might not. Alternately alternately, if LGBT is not your thing (which, fair enough) fic about the quartet moving on, getting to know each other again, settling down in Emelan would be great. Basically just what happens next after the Empress book.
Tricksters - Tamora Pierce
I would love fic about how life goes for Dove after the book. How does she deal with ruling a kingdom, what is her life like, how does she deal with romance? Pretty much a timestamp of her after the book sometime would be amazing! A fic from Kyprioth's perspective would be cool too, maybe an alternate look at the books from his perspective?
Whatever you write, dear author, Thank you very much for it. And please have fun, I've tried to give you something to go off of and yet leave it open so you do not feel as though you have nowhere to go.
